ROLLER HOCKEY

Roller Hockey is fast, exciting, non contact game, played by two teams. Males and females of all ages can play. Roller Hockey can be played indoor or outdoors. The team that scores the most goals by the end of the game is the winner.

A roller hockey game consists of two five-man teams (four skaters and one goalkeeper). The objective of the game is to drive the ball with their sticks into the opponents’ goal. The ball can only be put in motion by a stick, not the skate, otherwise a foul will be stated. The game has two 20-minute halves (seniors) and two 15-minute halves (juniors), with the clock stopping when the ball becomes dead and a one-minute timeout in each half. Each team has a minimum of six players (a backup goalie is required) and a maximum of ten.

The basic requirements are a pair of good quality skates, a rink hockey stick, shin pads, knee pads, gloves and groin protection, and a mouth guard is required for junior players. The goal keeper has special requirements and wears leather leg pads, broader thicker gloves, shoulder and arm protection. The goal keepers face is covered with a firm wire mask and helmet.
